As a Realtor and construction worker, I see a lot of poorly maintained driveways and I can tell you now that it makes me weep.

This simple finishing touch could be wiping thousands off the potential value of your home and it really is not that difficult to get it right.

CURB APPEAL

You have probably heard something about the curb appeal of a property, but are maybe not aware exactly what it means.

Asphalt is a long-lasting material, which offers great value for money. Getting it repaired really doesn’t need to cost the earth and can instantly boost your home’s curb appeal.

CONCRETE

Concrete offers more choice than asphalt does, as it can come in pretty colors and with more options. Some of these include stamped concrete and concrete pavers.

Both of these options deliver a bit of much needed eye candy, to the front of a property, which are always an instant hit with buyers.

However, cracked concrete is never a sight anyone wants when coming to view a potential home – so take the time to do the maintenance properly before selling!

GRAVEL

Both concrete and asphalt make great driveway surfaces, but the initial outlay for both may be beyond your budget.

If you have no or a very old driveway that needs attention, gravel is often a popular option.

This is because it costs less than the other surfaces and can often be laid by the homeowner themselves, eliminating the need to hire a professional.

Whereas no one should pretend that gravel will last for as long as some of the other options, it at least can be easily replaced when it needs to be.
